BBC and Trajectory’s data visualisation wins awards

21st Jul, 2014

A data visualisation produced by BBC Worldwide using data sourced and analysed by Trajectory has won both the Royal Statistical Society’s award for Statistical Excellence in Journalism and the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) European Digital Media Award for Best Data Visualisation.

The animated data visualisation was made by the BBC to support their 100 Women season in October 2013, which included TV, Radio and Digital content as well as a live televised conference. Trajectory identified, analysed and presented the data to the BBC’s team. The animation used an array of global data, on issues as diverse as teenage pregnancy rates and crimes against women, to tell powerful and compelling stories as a young girl negotiated the risks and opportunities she faced as she grew up.

The award winning animation can be watched below, and more information on the 100 Women series can be found here.
